Curious about beekeeping? This class is perfect for bee-ginners wanting to know more about honey bees and basic beekeeping practices. We will cover honey bee biology, purchasing equipment, best management practices, honey production, and caring for healthy bees. Instructor Chris Schad is a master naturalist, former President of the Minnesota beekeepers association and an advisor at the University of Minnesota Bee Squad. He'll share that experience to help you begin this amazing hobby.
The foundation of this class is the University of Minnesota's Beekeeping in Northern Climates - Third Edition, a manual Chris was a contributing author of. We recommend participants should consider purchasing or downloading a free PDF version in advance of the class.
