The 29th Annual Minnesota Night to Unite celebration (an alternative to National Night Out) is scheduled for Tuesday, August 7, 2012. As always, the Elk River Police and Fire Departments are encouraging participation in this community-wide event. You and your neighbors are invited to “Give Neighborhood Crime and Drugs a Going Away Party.” As part of the fight for safer streets throughout the country, together we can:
Promote community involvement in crime and drug prevention activities
Strengthen police-community relations
Encourage neighborhood camaraderie by getting to know your neighbors
The Elk River Senior Center, Senior Dining, and the Elk River Police Department co-sponsor the Noon to Unite. Join in for food, fun, and prizes! The music starts at 11:00 a.m. at the Senior Center, 350 Evans. Lunch, served by police department staff, is served at 12:00 p.m. Please pre-register at 763.635.4500. At 4:00 p.m., they will be serving pizza at the Activity Center, 413 Proctor Avenue. Please pre-register at 763.635.4500.
The most important aspect of Minnesota Night to Unite is getting neighbors together! Your event doesn’t have to be huge or elaborate; it can be as simple as lemonade and conversation in a neighbor’s yard. So talk with your neighbors and plan to get together!
