A Beach Party 10 Years in The Making Elk River, MN. -Wouldn’t you throw the biggest party ever, if you survived a brain tumor that sat upon the motor strip of your brain? Laura Gifford has much to celebrate and be thankful for. She has remained tumor free after 10 years and will celebrate the anniversary of her surgery by creating the 1st Annual Grey Ribbon Sunday Fun Day to celebrate survivors of Brain Tumors. The public is invited to join her Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Lake Orono Park in Elk River from 2pm-9pm. Don't miss all the fun with live music by 340 Magnum, sandcastle contests, face painting, balloon tosses, food trucks, all on a beach! Brain tumors are not as common as most other cancers. By pure numbers, they don’t always attract the attention for adequate research funding, or financial support for patients and their families. However, brain tumors have left a mark on several local families including Rob Lucas of Elk River who lost his battle last year. More well-known is Minnesotan Eleanor Mondale, who lost her battle, but was attended to at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota the same day as Gifford, by the same surgeon, Ian Parney. Parking for the event can be found at Lake Orono Park in Elk River, Minnesota or along 18599 Gary Street, Elk River, 55330. Laura Gifford is available for interview. Please contact her at 763-248-6574, or online at http://www.greyribbonfoundation.org The Mission of the Grey Ribbon Foundation is to provide financial assistance to individuals and families battling a brain tumor and also to provide financial assistance to brain tumor research organizations. The Grey Ribbon Foundation is currently a Minnesota limited liability corporation that has filed for 501(c)(3) status with the IRS.
