Citywide Garage Sale May 19-21

Tis the season for garage sales, graduation parties, seasonal business advertising, homes for sale, and so much more! And with those things – often comes signs placed in the city right-of-way. If you’d like to save your sign from being removed by Elk River Code Enforcement staff for illegal placement, here are a few things you need to know:

• Signs cannot be placed in the right-of-way (ROW). City ROW is 10 feet from the curb or street edge.
• Signs cannot be attached to existing objects within the ROW, including telephone poles, streetlights, or signposts (like stop signs or street signs for example).
• Signs cannot be placed in the median of a divided roadway, or on sidewalks or boulevards.

Back by popular demand, Elk River will host a Citywide Garage Sale the third weekend in May! You won’t have to worry about putting out signs May 19-21, all you need to do is submit an online form (ElkRiverMN.gov/CitywideSale) by Friday, May 13 in order to be added to the master list of sales! We’ll publish the full list of registered sales a few days prior to the citywide event! Look for more details coming soon!
