The original vision for Guardian Angels was an acute care hospital. However, as the leaders began their efforts, the need for services for seniors became more apparent. In 1965, Guardian Angels opened a 60-bed skilled nursing care center along with a subsidized low-income 24-unit senior apartment facility along the Mississippi River in Elk River. In following years Guardian Angels expanded senior services. Today, seniors continue to enjoy quality services in Elk River, Becker and Zimmerman in senior housing and assisted living. The Care Center can now accommodate 120 residents.
Guardian Angels of Elk River is a comprehensive senior care organization serving seniors in the cities, towns and counties in and around the northwest metropolitan area regardless of their religious affiliation or economic status. We were founded in 1962 with a mission to share Christ?s love by serving seniors through health care, housing and support services. Today, Guardian Angels is comprised of six related nonprofit organizations, all sharing the same vision and governed by a single 15-member board of directors.
Guardian Angels has been part of the Elk River community since 1965 when the Care Center began its service to seniors with skilled nursing care. Today, we offer many lifestyle choices and service options meeting all senior needs.
