We work in a studio model where everyone works side-by-side throughout each project's lifecycle so that you can focus on great work as you collaborate with all kinds of roles and experience levels. Three studios comprise the firm –Planning & Urban Design, Retail & Commercial Design, and Residential Design. Civil engineers, planners, land surveyors, development managers, landscape architects, and administrative support roles are part of the team.

We are looking for a Pre-Development Design Lead to join our Residential, and Retail & Commercial Design Studios in our downtown Minneapolis office (with an opportunity for a hybrid workplace after acclimation).  The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of pre-development activities including initial site evaluation, coordination with planning on zone/land use/entitlement, concept design, and development analysis.

You’ll come with a knowledge of qualifications, competencies, requirements, capabilities, and knowledge:

Required:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering
• Ability to prepare conceptual development plans incorporating engineering requirements
• Ability to prepare project renderings, graphics, project marketing materials, and presentations
• Ability to work with design teams in a collaborative environment
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of private development projects and processes
• Proficient in a Windows and Microsoft 365 environment
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud, Civil 3D
• Self-motivated and growth-minded
• Understanding the software necessary to complete the level of communication needed

 Preferred:

• The ability to present projects at public hearings is a plus
• Licensed, or on a path to professional licensure is a plus

You’ll be expected to do/job responsibilities/tasks:

Familiarize yourself with Landform’s Mission, Vision, and Values in your everyday work, such as:

• RELATIONSHIPS: assist other team members, appropriate communication with clients, jurisdictional staff, and contractors
• MENTORSHIP: be a mentee to more experienced Designers and team members, work with others in a learning capacity, willingness to learn
• ENTHUSIASM: positive attitude, punctuality, strong work ethic, high utilization

 Using the software and tools provided, become familiar and use Landform’s systems and standards to:

• Assist in preparing basic project proformas and financial analysis
• Preparation and coordination of design drawings and development applications
• Report to Development Manager and has the support of Development Coordinator and Planners
• Work independently, completing tasks with assistance when needed
