DESCRIPTION:North Star SHRM will be hosting a seminar titled: Leading The Way to a Secure Retirement: 7 Insights to help manage your plan.  It will be held at the Minnesota School of Business (11500 193rd Avenue\, Elk River) on Wednesday\, January 13\, 2016 from 8 am to 9:30 am. All North Star SHRM members are invited to attend.  In addition\, all Elk River and I-94 West Chamber members\, and Minnesota School of Business students are invited to attend.  There is no cost to attend.\n\nThe target audience for this seminar is HR professionals\, small business owners and anyone involved in running a retirement plan for an organization with 5 to 200 employees.  This seminar is designed to help you gain control\; clarity and confidence in your retirement plan by helping you answer the following questions: \n\n \n\n	Are our employees saving enough?\n	Do we really understand our fiduciary responsibilities-are we protected?\n	Do we have effective guidance and support?\n	Are we paying too much for the services associated with our plan?\n	Are the investment choices appropriate and easy to understand for the employees?\n\nBe confident in your retirement plan!\n\n \n\nThis seminar will be presented by Brandon Hanson and Heather Hooper.\n\n \n\nBrandon Hanson is a certified Financial Planner and co-owner of Gateway Financial Strategies.  He holds Series 7\, and 66 Securities Licenses as well as Accident & Health\, Life\, variable Life & variable annuities license.  He is a registered Representative offering securities through NYLIFE Securities\, LLC\, Member FINRA/SIPC and a financial Advisor offering investment advisory services through Eagle Strategies\, LLC\, A Registered Investment Advisor.  Brandon and his team provide advice and solutions to business owners and individuals focusing retirement planning\, investments\, protection\, and succession planning.  Brandon has been a financial Advisor for 7 years. \n\n \n\nHeather Hooper is the vice President of Retirement Strategies at Loring Ward\, a turnkey advisory\, investment management and retirement plan solution firm.  In this role she heads up the company's ERISA 3(38) retirement plan division\, working with independent\, fiduciary advisors and their employer clients to offer a wide range of outsourced solutions including 401(k)\, 403(b)\, 457(b)\, Profit sharing\, defined Benefit and combination plans.   She also serves on the 401(k) committee for the firm's retirement plan.  Prior to joining Loring Ward\, heather was the chief Operating Officer for NextStep Defined Contribution\, Inc. a recordkeeping and administration firm.  In this role she oversaw the human capital needs of the organization and managed the day-to-day responsibilities associated with NextStep's retirement plan operations\, relationship management\, IT and plan administration functions.  A former Human Resources Executive\, heather has seen all sides of retirement plan management including plan audits\, design\, administration and participation.  She has almost two decades of corporate experience in a variety of fields\, holds a Series 65 license and serves on the California Secure Choice Retirement Savings investment board and is an Accredited Investment fiduciary (AIF).
